Becoming a Carbon Negative company
1. We minimize emissions where we can by:
- Prioritizing local projects to reduce business travel
- Residential solar production
- Driving electric, cycling, or using public transport when possible
- Extending the lifetime of electronics by buying refurbished phones and laptops
2. We estimate our total CO2e emissions
Given the absence of a BC-specific tool to calculate emissions that accounts for local grid emission factors, we are using a custom calculator to sum the impacts of travel, office heating & electricity, data storage, electronics, meals, professional services such as legal and accounting, and hotel nights.
3. We remove more CO2 from the atmosphere than we emitted
In 2025, we contributed to Tree Canada to plant 1,200 trees in the Ashnola River Watershed, with the intent of offsetting our CO2 emissions for that year. After deepening our understanding of carbon removals, we have decided to purchase carbon removal credits from Deep Sky Manitoba, supporting Direct Air Capture development here in Canada. 4. We report on our progress towards Carbon Negative
The graph below tracks our emissions and our carbon removal credit purchases. Our intent is to remove substantially more carbon than we emit. The net emissions show the difference between actual historical emissions and purchased carbon removals at their expected time of delivery. The graphs also shows a rough estimate of projected emissions for the next years.
